Replenishment Manager SUP00049

General Summary:

  • The Manager of Replenishment is responsible for optimizing basic inventory service and turn results at Family Dollar's Distribution Centers and in all Family Dollar stores. This position must meet or exceed service and turn goals by guiding and directing Replenishment Buyers, partnering with other internal departments and managing external third-parties. This position is responsible for delivering store level in-stocks at goal in order to drive company sales and margin. The Manager of Replenishment works with the Director to ensure the DCs continuously have the minimum level of inventory on hand required to meet service-level and turn objectives while delivering store level in-stock goals. The Manager of Replenishment implements strategies and tactics for improving operational efficiencies and service levels while reducing inventory levels and operational costs. The Replenishment Manager will utilize various IT programs and systems to achieve results and will ensure that these systems are sufficient to drive inventory productivity. The Manager of Replenishment provides leadership to the Replenishment Buyers and is responsible for embracing Family Dollar's store-centric commitment to customers, customer service and sales.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Analyze the company's basic inventory and service levels and ensure smooth flow of merchandise into and out of the DCs and stores
  • Select, train, coach, and direct Replenishment Buyers
  • Assess the skills and talents of specific Replenishment Buyers and match them appropriately with specific categories
  • Manage Replenishment Buyers and ensure they meet their weekly task objectives
  • Assess quality of Replenishment Buyers' decisions (e.g., time of order, service level, store in-stock position, just-in-time) and provide additional training where necessary
  • Build and cultivate strong professional working relationships with internal groups and departments that interface with the replenishment function
  • Provide reports on weekly/monthly basis on service, turn, and in-stock results for the company
  • Assist the Director in managing unproductive inventory, identifying trends and developing recommendations to correct issues
  • Ensure accuracy of replenishment transfers and purchases to support service level, store level in-stock, and inventory productivity targets
  • Monitor store level inventories to make certain they are in line with the company's objectives in terms of store in-stock, visual presentation and turn goals
  • Effectively communicate with and manage vendors to ensure compliance with Family Dollar's policies
  • Implement processes and tools to monitor replenishment orders and communicate with other departments as needed (DC transportation, Allocation, DC operations, Planning, Merchandising, etc.)
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience / training is required.
  • Experience: Four (4) or more years of related retail work experience in the areas of allocation and/or replenishment. O ne (1) year of supervisory experience in a corporate work environment
  • Technical Skills : Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, Power Point and Word. Ability to develop, manipulate, format and share spreadsheets for the purpose of analysis is required. Experience in using information systems to forecast and analyze data is critical.
  • Other Skills: Strong interpersonal, analytical, planning, change management, organizational and leadership skills are necessary. The ability to think outside the box, be comfortable with ambiguity, have a strong sense of urgency, be data and results-driven, and operate at the highest level of integrity are critical skills for this role.
